Could you spare 2 minutes of your time?
As part of my efforts to release a self-help eBook by the end of August 2021, I was hoping to get the pulse of the public (so to speak) on the topics that they would like me to touch on. The general question is this: If you had an opportunity to talk to a counseling and/or sport psychologist for an hour, what would the session focus on?

Makati Shangri-La, Manila
As many of you may have heard, Makati Shangri-La, Manila will be closing it’s doors temporarily beginning February 1, 2021. When I first heard of the news, my thoughts immediately went to those who would ultimately be affected by this development. If the pandemic could force the hand of Makati Shangri-La to close their doors after 27 years, what about the other tier establishments around them—and there are many.
The news also made me recall some of my past experiences in Makati Shangri-La. The biggest one was sometime back in the 90’s when we happened to see the Muscles from Brussels himself Jean-Claude Van Damme exiting Shang Palace with his entourage.
If I remember correctly, he was paid an inordinate amount of money to shoot a commercial for a local liquor product.

Booksale Greenbelt 1
Passing by Greenbelt 1, I also noticed that the Booksale Branch also closed it’s doors. With so few brick and mortar bookstores left, this development hit me hard as well. In my humble opinion, nothing can ever take the place of the sensory experience that one feels when they enter any bookstore.
So, if you can, do find the time to support your local bookstore or comic book store.

Video of the Week
I initially saw this video on my Facebook feed and it happened to end just before Floyd Norman was about to make a deal with the Pawn Stars! After finding out the price they settled on, I felt that Norman’s work was being undervalued.
You be the judge.
